University of Melbourne 1888 Building

Stokes Rousseau completed an 18 month heritage restoration project at the University of Melbourne 1888 Building, (former Teachers’ College), on Grattan Street, Parkville.

These works largely consisted of copper sump and box gutter replacement, copper flashing, lead roofing, slate replacement, height safety access system installation, paint stripping, render and concrete repairs, joinery/sash window refurbishments, repointing works, painting and façade cleaning.

The live student environment and significant gardens were key considerations throughout the project duration.

Project highlights include re-casting and installing four unique Griffins that sit atop the building gables
