Carpenter

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Interpreting drawings and specifications in order to determine material, dimensions and set outs required
  • Undertaking all facets of carpentry from framing to fix
  • Undertaking material take-offs
  • Liaising with subcontractors
  • Managing and guiding apprentices and labourers in their daily tasks
  • Participating and abiding by site occupational health and safety, quality assurance and environmental requirements

KEY REQUIREMENTS

  • Carpentry qualification at a minimum. 
  • Sound knowledge of building products, processes, trades and relevant tools
  • Construction Red/White Card
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Motivated and driven to produce high quality results
  • Ability to work autonomously and within a small team
  • Current drivers licence and vehicle.
  • All carpentry tools and relevant personal protective clothing and equipment.

Site Manager

The Site Manager will be responsible for the onsite management of a project, including managing sub-contractors, leading hands, carpenters and labourers. The role requires a person who is self-motivated, extremely capable, adaptable and innovative, and has experience leading and managing construction projects. The Site Foreman will also be the point of contact between Stokes Rousseau and the client. The first job will be in Keilor and you will be prioritized for Western/Northern Melbourne and CBD jobs. 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES / TASKS

  • Managing projects including daily site supervision
  • Coordinating and liaising with subcontractors
  • Managing the leading hand, carpenters and labourers
  • Developing strong relationships with clients
  • Coordinating Site OH&S, QA and Environmental requirements
  • Processing variation quotations and request for information to the client
  • Maintaining and updating project programs
  • Maintaining construction documentation (Procore).

QUALIFICATIONS

Suitable applicants must have:

  • At least four years experience in Site Manager role
  • Demonstrated Tier 3 commercial Site manager and construction experience
  • Carpentry background preferred
  • Sound knowledge of building products, processes and trades
  • Excellent communication and analytical skills
  • IT / Computer skills (Microsoft word, Excel, Project and Gmail)
  • Construction Management Platform experience preferred i.e Procore
  • Ability to work autonomously and within a small team
  • Strong desire to work alongside company Directors to lead improvements and implementation of company-wide systems
  • Current drivers licence and vehicle.

REMUNERATION

Stokes Rousseau will pay the successful candidate an attractive package, to be negotiated based on experience and qualifications.

Labourer

We are on the lookout for an experienced Labourer to join our team and work on various project locations across Melbourne working a Monday to Friday week. The role will work across Melbourne on both commercial and heritage projects. You will occasionally assist and be trained in carpentry and heritage restoration skills. 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES / TASKS

  • Working cohesively as part of a team of PM’s, Site Foreman, Leading Hands, Carpenters and Apprentices to complete project works to schedule
  • Attention to detail, willingness to learn and undertake works to a high standard 
  • Commitment to OHS 
  • Ability to work across multiple work sites with various stakeholders

Suitable applicants must have:

  • Drivers Licence (required)
  • White Card (required)
  • Previous experience working within the residential/commercial construction industry
  • EWP, First Aid (ideal but not required)
