Stokes Rousseau was engaged by The University of Melbourne to construct a raised steel walkway through the Systems Garden Rainforest at its Parkville campus.

Designed by SBLA Landscape Architects, the elevated structure allows students and staff to move through the tranquil garden space without disturbing the delicate ecosystem.

The walkway was carefully constructed to preserve endangered plant species, protect established tree root systems, and avoid disruption to existing wildlife habitats. The result is a thoughtful integration of built form within a living landscape — creating an immersive, accessible space for reflection and connection with nature.
